Association Management Frequently Asked Questions

FAQs

What is an AMC?

Association Management Companies are a cost-effective alternative for trade associations, professional societies and not-for-profits that need staff support to accomplish their missions.

How does it work?

Rather than hiring and housing its own staff, associations contract with an AMC partner that provides services to multiple associations.  This shared resources model allows associations to pay only for the services they need when they need them, typically reducing expenses.

What services does an AMC provide?

AMCs provide all of the services necessary for an association to operate, including financial management, data management, conference management, publications, public affairs support, website management, board and committee support, social media, member services and marketing.

What is FrontlineCo?

FrontlineCo is a national, award-winning Association Management Company based in Illinois, with offices in Springfield and Chicago. We also provide public affairs, conference management and data management services on an ala carte basis.

How do I know I’m hiring the right AMC?

Look for an AMC that has experience in your industry, or ask the AMC to provide references from existing clients.  You can also check for accreditation by the AMC Institute which has established best practices for association management.  Less than 100 AMCs in the United States have achieved this standard and FrontlineCo is proud to be one of them.

How much will it cost?

Like most professional service companies, fees are based on the number of hours needed to provide the required services. Rates may vary depending on many factors and are typically determined as part of an RFP process.

Will we get “lost in the shuffle” if we partner with an AMC?

Leaders are sometimes concerned that they’ll lose control or identity if they partner with an AMC.   At Frontline, we never take a “one size fits all approach.” Rather, we work in partnership with our clients who always retain full control over their organizations.
